Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office operates under the following four Bureaus: Administration Bureau, Detention/Admin Services, Professional Standards Bureau, and Public Safety Bureau. Arapahoe County Sheriff responsibilities are to keep and preserve the peace, serve and execute all processes, writs, precepts and orders issued or made by lawful authorities, and serve the civil courts of record held in the County. In addition, the Sheriff is in charge and custody of the County jail, and acts as fire warden in case of prairie or forest fires. The Sheriff's serves as a public safety organization apart from being a law enforcement agency.

The Detention/Administrative Services Bureau responsibilities include the detention of prisoners and various services to the county courts. The Professional Standards Bureau is responsible for maintenance of the Sheriff's Office three accreditations, staff inspections, concealed weapons permits, employee misconduct, human resource functions, and training. Patrol Deputies travel 850 miles of roadways to provide law enforcement to citizens of Arapahoe County . Investigators conduct follow-up investigations to identify and locate criminals, and to gather evidence that can be used to obtain successful criminal prosecution.
