Arapahoe County Humane Societies are the Colorado Humane Society & S.P.C.A of Englewood Shelter and The Animal Control Office of Arapahoe County.

The Animal Control Office is responsible for enforcing the Running at Large, Barking Dog, and Licensing Ordinances of unincorporated Arapahoe County . Services and responsibilities include the following: Assistance in releasing small wildlife from fireplaces and window wells, capturing and releasing snakes, hospitalization of sick and injured stray animals, impounding stray animals, and the pick-up and disposal of dead animals.

The Colorado Humane Society was incorporated on August 6th, 1881 . As an open-door shelter the Colorado Humane Society does not turn away animals that are brought by concerned citizens or animal control officers. Serving as a welfarest" organization, the Colorado Humane clinic in Lakewood performs thousands of procedures each year. The procedures save hundreds of lives and ensure that every animal adopted from the shelter is spayed or neutered. In addition, The Colorado Humane Society operates as a non-qualifying, low cost clinic.
